The Man with the Iron Fists 2

The Man with the Iron Fists 2 is a 2015 direct-to-video martial arts action film directed by Roel Reiné. It stars RZA, Dustin Nguyen, Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa and Grace Huang, and was released by Universal as a sequel to the 2012 original.

Martial-arts filmmaking puts the burden on everything around the choreography. Wire removal is near-constant, digital doubles absorb the impacts a performer cannot take, weapon augmentation and blood work push a hit past what the camera actually caught, and speed ramps have to be retimed and repaired shot by shot so the retiming never shows. A period setting adds matte painting and set extension to turn a standing set into a village, along with atmospheric simulation for dust, embers and rain.
