Shot for game cinematic the Watch Dogs
Produced as a shot for a game cinematic tied to Watch Dogs, Ubisoft’s action-adventure franchise, this work covers 3D animation, environments, FX simulation and compositing. The frame shown places a hooded, visored figure in the middle of an empty street at night, a device in both hands, neon light bouncing off the buildings behind, with the series’ painted logo laid over the image. Terminal FX’s visual effects and 3D work on the shot are part of our game cinematic and commercial portfolio.
Delivering a shot into someone else’s cinematic means inheriting decisions. Camera language, character look, lighting and grade are already fixed, and the work has to slot in without announcing itself. A street like this is largely built rather than filmed, so the load falls on CG environments, set extensions and matte painting for the depth beyond the practical frame, on signage and reflection detail to make the place feel inhabited, and on atmospheric FX — rain, mist, steam off the asphalt — to give the neon something to sit in. Character animation has to read in silhouette against all of that, and compositing balances glow, reflection and haze so the shot cuts cleanly with its neighbors. Integration-first work of this precision is what Terminal FX brings to cinematic pipelines.
