Lvivske beer commercial
Two eras meet down the middle of the frame in this Lvivske commercial: on one side a man carries a modern printed carton through a contemporary street, on the other his period counterpart hauls a wooden crate, the brewery’s 1715 origins and its present staged as a single mirrored gesture. Lvivske belongs to Carlsberg Ukraine, and the spot draws on CG product visualization, environments, compositing and visual effects.
The whole gag rests on the join. Two plates shot at different times must agree on camera height, focal length, sun angle and colour before a viewer will read them as one image. The packaging carrying the mirror has to convince in both worlds — the carton, with its gold line-art of the Lviv skyline, modelled and rendered so it sits properly in the actor’s grip and takes the same light as his shirt; the crate matched for grain, wear and weight. Around that come the exacting routine jobs: rotoscoping moving figures, removing anachronisms from the historic half, extending the street where the set runs out, and grading both halves into one continuous look. The visual effects and 3D on the commercial were done at Terminal FX.
