FX showreel

Film Showreel

Fire, smoke, explosions, water, debris and structural destruction, gathered into one reel of FX simulation work built with particle and dynamics systems. It is the studio’s effects discipline shown on its own terms — the physical, unscripted half of visual effects, where behaviour is solved rather than keyframed.

Simulation is a negotiation between physics and direction. The solver produces something plausible; the shot needs something plausible that also happens on the right frame, in the right part of frame, at a scale the camera can read. Fire and smoke depend on getting the velocity of the gas right before anything is shaded, since detail at the wrong scale instantly makes a large blast look like a tabletop burn. Destruction has to be fractured with an eye to material — concrete shears differently from timber or glass — and then fed with the dust and secondary debris that make collapse feel heavy. Water carries its own problem in the whitewater and spray at the surface. Every layer eventually meets the plate, where lighting, motion blur and depth decide whether it belongs. This reel is the shorthand for what Terminal FX means by FX.
