Set Extensions showreel
Where the built set stops, this reel picks up. It collects set extension work: practical sets and real locations continued with digital architecture, upper storeys, backgrounds and vistas that the production never had to construct. The photographed set stays the anchor throughout; the digital half exists to make it larger.
The discipline lives or dies at the boundary. A tracked camera has to hold the extension locked to the plate through every pan and handheld drift, and the digital architecture has to inherit the real set’s construction logic — the same brick coursing, the same window rhythm, the same weathering — or the join announces itself. Occlusion matters as much as geometry: an actor, a lamp post or a passing extra crossing the seam has to be rotoscoped so the added structure sits genuinely behind them. Light must continue upward convincingly, with the sky’s contribution and reflected bounce carried into levels the crew never lit, and haze added over distance. Done properly nobody notices it at all. Set extensions are steady, everyday work at Terminal FX, and this reel gathers a run of it.
