A television commercial for Samsung, the electronics brand, featuring CG product visualization, environments, motion graphics and compositing. In the frame shown, a phone is held up into a deep blue void while translucent shards hang in the air around it and arcs of electricity trace across their surfaces. Terminal FX’s visual effects and 3D animation for the spot are part of our commercial and advertising portfolio.

Consumer-electronics advertising is the strictest form of product visualization there is: the device is the hero, every edge, chamfer and logo has to match the real object, and the CG build is lit and rendered to sit inside the photographed lighting rather than beside it. The effects around it — energy arcs, refractive glass, particulate drifting through the light — have to feel physical without ever obscuring the product, which calls for simulation, firm art direction, and rotoscoping to keep hands and fingers reading in front of the CG. Compositing binds the layers with matched grain, depth of field and reflections, and motion graphics close on the brand mark. This spot is representative of the product work Terminal FX takes on.
