Sacrifice

Sacrifice is a 2019 American legal thriller written and directed by Chris Stokes, which premiered in December 2019 as the first original film on BET+. Paula Patton stars as Daniella Hernandez, a sought-after Los Angeles entertainment lawyer who manages the scandals of her wealthy clients while her own past resurfaces, with Juan Antonio, Marques Houston, Erica Ash and V. Bozeman among the cast. The film was later expanded into a series for the same platform.

Contemporary drama keeps its visual effects behind the performances, where nobody is meant to look for them. Work of this shape runs to set extensions and matte painting that carry a Los Angeles skyline past the edge of a practical stage, screen replacements for phones, laptops and courtroom monitors, background and plate replacement for driving scenes, crowd and vehicle duplication to fill a location, and the rotoscoping, cleanup and beauty work that hold a scene together invisibly. As part of its film, television and commercial portfolio, Terminal FX contributed visual effects and animation to Sacrifice.
