Pawn Shop Chronicles
Pawn Shop Chronicles is a 2013 American crime-comedy directed by Wayne Kramer and written by Adam Minarovich. The interlocking ensemble story features Paul Walker, Matt Dillon, Elijah Wood, Brendan Fraser, Vincent D’Onofrio and Norman Reedus. Three strands — a pair of meth dealers, a man searching for his abducted wife, and a down-at-heel Elvis impersonator — all trace back to the same small-town Southern pawn shop.
Pulpy ensemble crime comedy rarely advertises its visual effects, and that is exactly the job. The work lives in gunfire and squib enhancement, digital blood, rig and wire removal behind the stunts, sky replacement and set extensions that hold one sun-bleached Southern geography together, and frame-by-frame cleanup that keeps modern signage and crew reflections out of shot. Compositing then fuses plates shot days apart into a single sweltering afternoon. Terminal FX contributed visual effects and animation to Pawn Shop Chronicles as part of its film, television and commercial portfolio.
