A 35-second reel of liquid effects from Terminal FX’s commercial work. A gymnast performs inside swirling water, a convertible full of passengers is caught in a splash, and green and red liquids burst and ripple in close-up.
Fluid is simulation work at its most visible. Water has to move with the right weight and speed for its scale, break into believable spray and droplets, and then be lit and rendered so it refracts what is behind it. When liquid wraps around a performer or a product, it also has to follow their motion precisely, which is where simulation, tracking and compositing meet.
