Compositing work for The Last Mercenary
This reel collects the compositing Terminal FX carried out on The Last Mercenary, David Charhon’s Netflix action comedy starring Jean-Claude Van Damme. It runs shots from raw plate to finished frame, showing the assembly stage — element integration, cleanup, and light and grain matched to the original photography — that takes over once shooting is done.
Compositing is where a shot is finally believed, or not. The work runs from keys and hand-drawn mattes that separate a performer from the background, through camera tracking and lens matching so added layers move and distort exactly as the original glass did, to the assembly of rendered passes and 2D elements at the right density and depth. Then come the details that do the convincing: edge treatment and light wrap, matched grain and black levels, atmosphere placed between layers, and continuity across every shot in a sequence so the eye never catches a seam. It is the stage where FX simulation, CG environments, animation and cleanup all converge, and this reel shows Terminal FX working at that end of the pipeline on The Last Mercenary.
