Made for Orbit, the sugar-free chewing gum brand owned by Mars Wrigley, this spot showcases CG product visualization, 3D animation and compositing. The frame shown is set at an airport boarding gate: a passenger hands over her pass as she steps aboard, with the Orbit logo sitting over the action. Confectionery advertising asks for polish rather than spectacle. A pack shot has to be modeled and lit so that foil, print and gloss read exactly as they do on the shelf, and the CG version has to cut seamlessly against photographed packaging elsewhere in the edit. Location plates like an airport gate need cleanup — signage, logos, background travelers, anything that would date the image — plus set extensions when a partial set has to become a whole terminal. On top of that come tracked graphics, the sparkle and freshness effects that sell the product idea, and compositing that keeps skin tones and daylight consistent from cut to cut.
