CG Sheep

CG Sheep is a four-second clip that Terminal FX published on its Vimeo channel in 2021: a computer-generated sheep standing in a dim interior beside a wooden table, shown in its poster frame from behind with its woolly coat catching a single light.

Short tests like this exist to answer one question before a shot depends on it. Wool is a hard case for grooming: dense, curled and clumped fibres that have to read as volume rather than noise, and that change character completely with the direction and softness of the light. Getting the coat right in a simple lit setup is what makes it dependable later, when the animal has to move through a finished shot.
